Dr. Darcy Ogada, PhD, recently was awarded a $250 grant by the Association of Avian Veterinarians for her submission of the manuscript, "Rural culture and the conservation of Mackinder's eagle owls in Kenya." Dr. Ogada, of the Ornithology Section of the Natural Museums of Kenya, wrote about investigating the effects of farming practices on the diet and breeding ecology of owls. The manuscript was published in the June 2008 issue of the Journal of Avian Medicine and Surgery.

Dr. Bret D. Marsh (PUR '84) of Indianapolis was honored by the National Assembly of State Animal Health Officials for his contribution to animal health in the regulatory field by receiving the 2008 National Assembly annual award. He is the Indiana state veterinarian a former USAHA president, and serves as treasurer of the AVMA.
