 Exhibition on Animals in Art.

The Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine is inviting entries for its 22nd Annual International Exhibition on Animals in Art.

The exhibition will feature works of art in all media and will run from March 28-April 26, 2009. The deadline for entries is Jan. 9.

Melanie Hansbrough, an artist from Baton Rouge, La., will serve as the judge and juror. The awards will include $1,000 for best of show. Dr. Janis H. Audin, AVMA editor-in-chief, will choose one work of art to appear on a cover of the JAVMA.

The exhibition is open to artists 18 years of age or older. Works must be original, and artists must price work for sale. The veterinary school will retain a 20 percent commission on sales.

Artists should submit their entries as 2-by-2-inch, mounted 35 mm slides or as digital images on a compact disk. A nonrefundable, $15 fee must accompany each entry. Artists should make a check or money order payable to Louisiana State University with the note "Animals in Art entry" in the memo line.

Entry forms and information are available online at www.vetmed.lsu.edu/art_show.htm or from Gretchen Morgan, alumni and public programs coordinator, at (225) 578-9565 or gmorgan@lsu.edu.
