Online auctions can generate a little extra cash for the American Veterinary Medical Foundation.

Sellers can use eBay's Giving Works program to donate a percentage of their sale price to the Foundation. The AVMF received its first pledge for a donation this summer, when a man indicated he would donate 30 percent of the sale price for copies of graphic designs of dogs.

The online auction house, through a partnership with the Washington-D.C.-based Mission Fish, helps sellers donate all or part of their proceeds to nonprofit organizations. And Mission Fish helps nonprofits sell in-kind gifts.

Mission Fish is a nonprofit collaboration of the Points of Light Institute, Pew Charitable Trusts, and the Case Foundation. The organization serves nonprofits in the United States and United Kingdom.
