The AVMA's career video, "Veterinary medicine: It's more than you think," has earned a gold-level 2008 Hermes Creative Award.

Released in 2007, the updated DVD shows middle- through high-school aged audiences the diverse career opportunities in veterinary medicine.

The 29-minute production features fun facts, quizzes, and profiles of veterinary practitioners talking about their careers. Segments provide advice to those considering veterinary school.

The Hermes Creative Award, given by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals, is an international competition for creative professionals involved in the concept, writing, and design of traditional and emerging media. The awards recognize outstanding work in the industry while promoting the philanthropic nature of marketing and communications professionals. There were approximately 4,000 entries in this year's competition.

Gold-level awards are presented to entries judged to exceed the high standards of the industry norm.

In addition to the Hermes award, the career video won two Ava Awards earlier this year: a platinum award in the Video/Film/Recruitment category and a gold award in the Video/Film/Nonprofit category. Also given by the AMCP, the Ava Awards recognize outstanding work of creative individuals in the audiovisual field.
