In total, 15 $1,000 stipends were presented. Ten were given to students serving in public practice or corporate veterinary medicine settings. Those winners are Sara Andre (University of California-Davis), Melinda Cep (Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine), Danielle Davignon (University of Wisconsin-Madison), Jessica Enes (Louisiana State University), Alexandria Glover (University of Georgia), Laurie Harris (Purdue University), Melanie Landry (North Carolina State University), Annie Li (Cornell University), Lauren Markovic (University of Illinois), and Megin Nichols (Colorado State University).
Five stipends for students participating in food supply veterinary medicine settings were added to the program beginning this year. The first recipients are Ashlee Brown (University of Georgia), Estella Hovland (University of Georgia), Maya Kuratomi (University of Minnesota), Brooke Ridinger (Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine), and Lacey Wright (North Carolina State University).
Applicants secure their own externships. This year, they were selected to work in a variety of settings, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service, and United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization.
