|posted December 1, 2007|
The Unwanted Horse Coalition has made available educational material aimed at solving the unwanted horse problem. The effort is part of the coalition's "Own Responsibly" campaign.
The mission of the UHC is reducing the number of unwanted horses and improving their welfare through education. The coalition's new brochure, "The problem of the unwanted horse," explains the coalition and its activities. The handbook, "Own responsibly: Guidance for current and potential horse owners from the Unwanted Horse Coalition," includes chapters on the responsibilities of horse ownership, options for owners with unwanted horses, retirement facilities, and tax ramifications of donating a horse to a charity.
The brochure and handbook are available at www.unwantedhorsecoalition.org for free download. For additional information, contact the UHC at (202) 296-4031.
