Dr. Robert Vince Hawley (OKL '03), an Army captain, and his clinic at Incirlik Air Base in Turkey recently received the Above and Beyond Award from the Army Veterinary Corps. Colonels from the Veterinary Corps select the worldwide winner from among the top captains and clinics under each commander. Capt. Hawley and his staff expanded their clinic's services by acquiring a larger building, renovating the facility, extending the hours, and offering additional types of surgery.
Dr. Robert G. Gillespie (KSU '61) received a 2007 Alumni Recognition Award from the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine and alumni association. He ran a general veterinary practice in Indiana for 42 years, with a special interest in equine and swine medicine. He is a past president of the Indiana VMA. After selling his practice in 2002, Dr. Gillespie became resident veterinarian for two humane societies.
