In the Animal Welfare Division, Dr. Vogel provided staff support to the Animal Welfare Committee and Committee on the Human-Animal Bond. Previously in the Scientific Activities Division, he provided staff support to the Council on Public Health and Regulatory Veterinary Medicine, Food Safety Advisory Committee, and Animal Agriculture Liaison Committee, and served on the Animal Welfare Governance Task Force. He has participated in several meetings of the World Health Organization and the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE).
Dr. Golab has more than two decades of experience dealing with animal welfare issues. She joined the AVMA in 1995 as an assistant editor in the Publications Division. After moving to the Education and Research Division as an assistant director in 1998, she joined the Communications Division in 2001, and in 2006 was named associate director of the Animal Welfare Division.
"I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to serve as interim director of the AVMA's Animal Welfare Division, and look forward to building upon and expanding the programs that have already been initiated under Dr. Vogel's very capable leadership," Dr. Golab said.
Dr. Golab is staff consultant to the Animal Welfare Committee and Committee on the Human-Animal Bond. She served on the Animal Welfare Governance Task Force and was staff consultant to the Task Force on the Housing of Pregnant Sows and Animal Welfare Advisory Committee. Additionally, Dr. Golab serves on a number of animal welfare-related national scientific advisory committees.
