AVMA broadens availability of News Bytes

Posted Aug. 1, 2007

AVMA News Bytes, an overview of news articles relevant to veterinarians, is now available to anyone who wishes to subscribe.

News Bytes provides excerpts from articles of veterinary interest, along with links to the stories, and highlights mentions of the AVMA and AVMA members in the media.

Following its launch in September 2005, News Bytes was available only to members of the AVMA leadership. The popularity of the service—as well as a desire by the AVMA to serve members, the public, and the media—led the AVMA to develop an RSS feed. Really Simple Syndication allows users to receive and manage news and updates from various Web sites without needing to visit each site.

Starting this month, anyone with an RSS reader can subscribe to News Bytes by going to and clicking on RSS feeds. An RSS reader is available for free as part of the Internet Explorer 7 browser.

The AVMA updates the RSS edition of News Bytes every business day at 4 p.m. Central Time. The AVMA leadership will continue to receive an early edition via e-mail at 2 p.m. Central.

Additional information about News Bytes and RSS feeds is available from Michael San Filippo, media relations assistant, at (800) 248-2862, Ext. 6687, or at
