The American Association of Museums has appointed Dr. Ford W. Bell (MIN '82) to the position of president and chief executive officer, effective May 3.
Dr. Bell has more than 30 years' experience as a nonprofit executive, board chair, trustee, educator, and scientist. He has served on the boards of organizations such as the James Ford Bell Museum of Natural History, which the University of Minnesota named after his grandfather, and the Minnesota VMA Foundation.
Most recently, Dr. Bell was a clinical assistant professor of oncology at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. In 2006, he was a candidate for the U.S. Senate.
Dr. Cecil W. Ingmire (KSU '47) received the 2007 Distinguished Alumnus Award from the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine on June 4. Dr. Ingmire started his practice in Joliet, Ill., in 1948. From 1954-56, he was a captain in the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps. Afterward, he built a clinic in Joliet, retiring in 1997 after 50 years as a veterinarian. He is a past president of the Illinois State VMA. Dr. Ingmire worked for the establishment of two veterinary technology programs in Illinois, and he is a mentor to young people who are interested in farming and veterinary careers.
