The South Carolina Association of Veterinarians recently honored Dr. Walter C. Robinson III (GA '73) with its Veterinarian of the Year Award. Dr. Robinson has contributed to veterinary medicine, surgery, and teaching for nearly 35 years. He has been a leader with the Greenville Veterinary Association and SCAV, and he is the state's representative in the AVMA House of Delegates. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners.
The SCAV honored Dr. William "Mack" McMurtrey Burriss (AUB '43) with its Distinguished Veterinarian of the Year Award. Five people nominated Dr. Burriss for his lifetime of service in the Anderson area. He ran a practice for 34 years before retiring, and he continues to volunteer at the Anderson County Humane Society's animal shelter. He has been a board member with his local school district for more than 30 years.
