Grants available for alternatives to animal use

Posted April 1, 2007

The Alternatives Research & Development Foundation is offering funding for methods pertaining to biomedical research, product testing, and education that do not use animals. Proposals are judged on the extent to which they will reduce or replace laboratory animals and on the basis of scientific merit and feasibility. The application deadline is April 30.

Grants are made available only to individuals affiliated with a nonprofit, tax-exempt institution, organization, or foreign equivalent. Preferential consideration will be given to proposals to use human rather than nonhuman vertebrate tissue and to proposals made by individuals associated with U.S. institutions or organizations.

Funding is available for one year, and the maximum grant award is $40,000.
