EXECUTIVE BOARD COVERAGE

Consultative site visits slated for two foreign colleges

Posted May 15, 2005

Having received the Executive Board's approval, the AVMA Council on Education will send a consultative team—two council members and one AVMA staff member—for a preliminary site visit to the Veterinary School of Lyon, France, and to the Universidad Nacional Autnoma de Mxico, Mexico City. The council submitted the recommendation after the colleges stated their intention to earn AVMA accreditation.

An established foreign veterinary college may request that the council send a consultative team for an unofficial appraisal of how its program relates to the 11 AVMA accreditation standards. The college will submit a detailed self-study report to the council and will pay for all travel and administrative expenses.

The council will visit France on Oct. 3-8 and will travel to Mexico during spring 2006.
