The Academy of Veterinary Dentistry is accepting applications to be considered for a $5,000, one-year research grant. Projects should involve the oral cavity or promote veterinary dentistry.

A three-page proposal is required and must include the project's title, name of the principal investigator, biographic sketches of all the professional participants, a rationale for the proposed project with background information, and a budget to outline the way the money will be used. The principal investigator is financially and ethically responsible for the project and must sign the application.

Grant proposals must be postmarked by July 30, 2005 to be considered. Interested individuals should send applications to Dr. Tom Kavanagh, Academy of Veterinary Dentistry, Village Animal Clinic P.C., 34415 Grand River Ave., Farmington, MI 48335; tomkavana@aol.com; or fax, (248) 477-7529. Dr. Kavanagh can be reached at (248) 477-0334.

The winner of the grant will present his or her research at the annual Veterinary Dental Forum in fall 2006, and must submit an article to the Journal of Veterinary Dentistry for publication within one year after completion of the project.
