March 10 was the signal day for the AVMA Mentoring Center. The center went fully live that day, welcoming mentees for the first time.
Some 500 mentors have registered since last July, when the initial phase of the program was launched during the AVMA Annual Convention in Philadelphia. Now, the system is ready to match mentees with those mentors.
The AVMA Mentoring Center is available to AVMA and Student AVMA members. All aspects of life as well-rounded veterinarians and students are addressed, whether a person is looking for a mentor to help with balance issues or one who can offer guidance on changing to another field of interest in veterinary medicine.
Veterinarians and veterinary students of all ages are encouraged to participate as mentees and mentors.
The program is designed not only to enhance personal and professional growth, but also to support the long-term health of the veterinary profession. Log on to http://mentoring.avma.org and be part of this rewarding give-and-take.
