Veterinarians and others who oversee the care and use of laboratory animals can look to the public statements developed by the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine as a resource. The specialty college has compiled them in a standard format to share them with the veterinary community.

At www.aclam.org/aclam_public.html, ACLAM has posted the following public statements: "Academics and Research Committee Report," "Adequate Veterinary Care," "Animal Use In Research, Testing and Teaching," "ACLAM Position Statement on Pain and Distress in Laboratory Animals," "Statement on the 3 R's," "Training & Education In the Care & Use of Laboratory Animals," "The Value of AAALAC Accreditation," "ACLAM Position on Rodent Surgery," "Statement on Veterinary Medical Records," and "Statement on Animal Experimentation."
