The AVMA is looking for volunteers to serve on its Veterinary Medical Assistance Teams as veterinary medical officers, veterinary technicians, safety officers, logistics officers, communications officers, training officers, and more.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency recently increased the number of VMAT members from 66 to 96.
Minimal requirements are a DVM/VMD or equivalent degree and a valid, unrestricted license to practice veterinary medicine in a state, the District of Columbia, the commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory. Position descriptions can be obtained from the team administrative officer.
