'Animals in Art' entries sought for LSU art exhibition

Posted Oct. 15, 2003

Louisiana State University is accepting entries for its 17th International Exhibition on Animals in Art. The exhibition will be held in the Veterinary Medicine Library and will feature art in all media—sculpture, paintings, and photography. Frederick Ortner, artist and dean of the LSU College of Art and Design, will judge the entries. The winner will receive $1,000 Best of Show award, and one entry will be selected to appear on the cover of JAVMA. The School of Veterinary Medicine and the Friends of the School of Veterinary Medicine are sponsoring the event.

Artists 18 years old and up are invited to submit 2-by-2-inch, mounted 35mm slides of their original artwork. All works must include an animal, and works that do not meet the spirit of the show will not be accepted. The maximum size of an entry is 60-by-60 inches by 48 inches. All works must be priced and for sale.

A nonrefundable $10 entry fee is required with each submission. Checks or money orders should be made out to the SVM Friends Art Show Account. The deadline for entries is Jan. 23, 2004.
