New AVMA Seminar: The AVMA has contracted with Deborah Snellen, professional trainer and small-business management consultant, to present a full-day seminar based on the customized AVMA handbook "Your Professional Image."

This upbeat, interactive program helps veterinarians and support staff to realize the impact a positive self-image and professional approach to client service have on practice success. The seminar is available to state, local, and national veterinary associations for presentation at their 2003 or 2004 conferences. Snellen will present a three-hour version of the program at the AVMA Annual Convention in Denver this July.

New Online Education Course: Through a cooperative effort with VetTeam (an Internet resource site for hospital staff), the AVMA has developed an online education course based on the AVMA customized handbook, "Telephone Courtesy and Client Service." The two-week, online course is led by an experienced veterinary technician instructor. The registration fee includes a copy of the handbook, the required text for the class. Students who have completed the course said that because the telephone and customer service techniques are readily applicable to the hospital environment, the course was a practical and enjoyable learning experience.
