Veterinary technology programs earn accreditation
|Posted Dec. 15, 2002|
The AVMA Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities met Nov. 8-11 and granted accreditation to four new veterinary technology programs, including one distance learning program.
Delaware Technical and Community College in Georgetown, Del., received full accreditation and three schools received provisional accreditation: Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia, Miss.; Purdue University Distance Learning Program in West Lafayette, Ind.; and Median School of Allied Health in Pittsburgh. New programs that meet or exceed most, but not all, minimum requirements and/or have not produced graduates remain on provisional status until achieving full accreditation or for a period no longer than five years.
The additions bring the total of AVMA-accredited veterinary technology programs to 98; five are distance learning. The list of AVMA-accredited technician schools is posted at www.avma.org in the Resources section.
