Notification required to possess select agents or high-consequence livestock pathogens

The secretaries of Health and Human Services, and Agriculture, have developed a list of select agents and livestock pathogens whose possession by facilities requires notification. The draft list of select agents can be accessed at www.asmusa.org/pasrc/71202selectagentnotice.pdf (PDF).

Each facility must designate a "responsible facility official"—a safety officer or senior management official—to submit this form by Sept. 10, 2002. This official should not be someone who possesses, uses, or transfers such agents or toxins.
