The affairs of the Association are managed by the Board of Directors ("the Board"), which has supervision, control, and direction of the Association. The Board determines the Association's policies or changes therein within the limits of the AVMA Bylaws, actively promotes the Association's purposes, and has discretion in the disbursement of its funds. The Board acts for and on behalf of the House of Delegates between sessions of the House. The Board may adopt such rules and regulations for the conduct of its business as deemed advisable. Its responsibilities include appointing AVMA Committees, Trusts, and Task Forces.
Board of Directors members must be voting members of the Association for at least five years immediately prior to their election and must reside in the district from which they are elected. The AVMA membership is comprised of eleven geographic districts. Find your geographic district and contact your state veterinary medical association if you are interested in serving on the AVMA Board of Directors.
