Dr. John de Jong

Dr. John de Jong represents District 1 on the AVMA Executive Board serving New York and the six New England states. A small animal practitioner, Dr. de Jong owns and operates the Boston Mobile Veterinary Clinic and is CEO and Director of the Boston Animal Hospital. A 1985 graduate of Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine and recently elected as a university trustee, Dr. de Jong has held many positions in organized veterinary medicine including serving as President of the Massachusetts VMA, the New England VMA, and the American Association of Housecall Veterinarians. In the AVMA, he served in the House of Delegates for 12 years including 8 years on the House Advisory Committee (one as Chair) and on various other entities including chairing the Governance Performance Review Committee, the AVMAPAC Policy Board, and the Legislative Advisory Committee. He is a weekly columnist for the Boston Herald, is a regular radio talk show guest, and is active in his church. He enjoys politics, rugby, fishing, and mostly spending time with his wife and two sons.
