DEA to Hold Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Sept. 25

Posted 2 September 2010

On September 25, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will be holding its First-Ever Nationwide Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. DEA plans to collect expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs for destruction at sites nationwide on Saturday, September 25, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time. Veterinarians can refer their clients to http://www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/takeback/ where collection sites in their specific geographic region can be located. Clients who are in areas of the country without easily accessible take-back sites can inquire with local law enforcement on disposal options for unwanted drugs. Local DEA field offices can also be contacted with additional questions regarding controlled substance disposal: http://www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/offices_n_dirs/fielddiv/index.html.
