Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea virus (PEDv) has had devastating effects on the health and welfare of millions of pigs and has also significantly impacted the economics of the swine industry. Swine veterinarians have committed untold hours to diagnosing and controlling the spread of this diease. To assist them, the USDA recently mandated reporting of PEDv (as well as Swine Delta Coronavirus), and is also requiring that the movement of pigs, vehicles and equipment leaving affected premises be tracked. For more information check out APHIS-Veterinary Services' Q&A on PEDv reporting and control, the summary of USDA actions to date, and the American Association of Swine Veterinarians' (AASV) webpage on PEDv.
