Douglas Freeman, DVM, MS, Ph.D.

Dr. FreemanDouglas Freeman is professor and dean of the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, a western Canadian regional program. His accomplishments include the establishment of an annual One Health leadership conference for health science students and Canada’s first veterinary social work program with the University of Regina. Freeman led the completion of an eight-year, $78-million infrastructure project at the WCVM, as well as significant expansion in college programs.

Freeman was previously professor and department head at North Dakota State University. He has also worked in private practice and the pharmaceutical industry. He completed a DVM, clinical residency and MS in theriogenology at the University of Minnesota, and a PhD degree in reproductive physiology at the University of Idaho. He is a diplomate and past president in the American College of Theriogenologists, a 2006-2007 Fellow of the American Council on Education, and is currently president of the AAVMC. He is a member of the board of directors for the university-based Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization-International Vaccine Centre.
