Cyril Clark is the dean of the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine and a professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences and Pathobiology. He received his veterinary degree (1981) from the University of Pretoria in South Africa and his doctorate in veterinary pharmacology (1987) from Louisiana State University. He has a master’s in higher education (2000) from Oklahoma State University and is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Clinical Pharmacology (ACVCP).
Dr. Clarke served on the faculty and as department head and associate dean for academic affairs at the Oklahoma State Center for Veterinary Health Sciences, and as dean of the Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine before his appointment as dean at Virginia-Maryland in 2013. He continues to teach veterinary pharmacology to veterinary students. His research focused on the interactions between antibacterial agents, animal patients, and infectious microbes. He is a recipient of the Pfizer Award for Research Excellence. Dr. Clarke is a member of the AVMA COE.
