Students: Earn a Chance to Present at AVMA Convention

“Understanding our Past to Transform our Future”

Scholarship Opportunity for Veterinary Students

Take a break from studying the “-ologies,” and explore the history that has made our profession one of the most rewarding and innovative.  Where have we been, what are we doing now, and – more importantly – where are we going?

As part of the AVMA’s 150th anniversary celebration, we’re offering veterinary students a unique opportunity to be featured speakers at a one-day symposium during the 2013 AVMA Convention in Chicago, to be held in July. The symposium will explore the veterinary profession’s historical roots, its successes, and visions for its future.

In addition to having the opportunity to present at the symposium, student winners also will receive convention registration and travel expenses (provided by AVMA), as well as a $2,500 educational scholarship provided by the American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF).

The contest is open to veterinary students who are members of SAVMA and attend veterinary schools that are represented within the SAVMA House of Delegates.

To get started, or for more information, read the Submission Guidelines and Selection Criteria.

Initial proposals should be submitted via email and are due by 5 p.m. (Central Time) on Dec. 31, 2012. (See the guidelines for more details.)

Final submissions are due by 5 p.m. (Central Time) on March 15, 2013, and must be submitted with a final submission cover sheet as well as the license and release form  and photography/video waiver form.

Good luck! We can’t wait to see the submissions, and we hope you’ll join us at the symposium and help us celebrate our 150th anniversary!
