Term: January 2012 – January 2015Erin Casey is a 2010 graduate of the University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine. After completing a one year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Friendship Hospital for Animals in Washington, D.C., Dr. Casey continued in small animal private practice in northern Virginia. She was honored to be selected as a member of the inaugural class of the AVMA Future Leaders Program, and will continue AVMA service as the Recent Graduate Representative for the Veterinary Leadership Conference Planning Committee through 2015. She is also a facilitator for the Veterinary Leadership Experience held yearly in Post Falls, ID.

Ms. Lisa Perius is the Executive Director of the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association, a position she has held since January, 1996. Prior to this position, she was Deputy Director of the Health Professions Bureau and director of the Medical Licensing Board for five years. During her tenure in state government, she was named a Sagamore of the Wabash in December, 1995, by then-governor Evan Bayh. She is a 1985 graduate of Indiana University with a degree in Public Affairs.
She has served on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Veterinary Medical Association Executive (ASVMAE) and was the association’s president in 2002-2003. She was named Executive Director of the Year in July, 2005. Ms. Perius received the 2009 Distinguished Volunteer Service Award from ASVMAE. She is past chair of the ASVMAE Professional Development Committee and still serves as a committee member. She was also an original member of the AVMA/ASVMAE Joint Committee, which was developed in 2003 while Ms. Perius was president of ASVMAE.
Ms. Perius and her husband Steve have two sons, Andrew, 23, a graduate of Indiana University (and gainfully employed!), and Connor, 19, a sophomore at Indiana University. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Crohns and Colitis Foundation of Indiana. She is a member of St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Church, where she has volunteered for many projects and is a Sunday lector.
