Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act

This legislation amends the Toxic Substances Control Act, which is the fundamental federal law that regulates the manufacture, processing, distribution in commerce, use, and disposal of chemical substances.

Status: Sen. Tom Udall (D-N.M.) introduced S. 697 on March 10, 2015, and it was referred to the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works.  Congress passed the bill on Dec. 17, 2015, as an amendment to the House companion bill H.R.2576 - TSCA Modernization Act of 2015.
