Dr. H. Theodore Trimmer was born and raised on a family farm in Mairland, Mo., and was the first in his family, and of his six siblings, to attend college. He graduated from University of Missouri-Columbia with a Bachelors of Science degree in agriculture and received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine.
After serving in the army, Dr. Trimmer moved to Las Vegas, Nev., and entered private practice. Now, with his partner, he owns and operates several small animal hospitals throughout the Las Vegas metropolitan area.
During his career, he has held positions in local and state veterinary medical associations. Dr. Trimmer has represented Nevada as its representative on the AVMA House of Delegate and is currently a member of the AVMA Executive Board. In addition, he is a trustee and former chair of the AVMA Group Health Life Insurance Trust. He was appointed to the Trust in 2000 and served two terms as its chair from 2005 through 2007. Before that, Dr. Trimmer was Nevada's alternate delegate to the AVMA. He was a member of the Nevada State Board for 18 years and served as its president from 1994 to 2002.
Dr. Trimmer has been married to Paula Trimmer for over 36 years, and they have four children. His daughter Ann is a Board Certified Veterinary Dermatologist practicing in Las Vegas. His sons Paul and Harold are both attorneys. Paul practices in Las Vegas. Harold practices in San Diego, Calif. His youngest son, Clark, is a third-year law student in Washington, D.C.
