Dr. Nancy Kay receives Leo K. Bustad Companion Animal Veterinarian of the Year Award
St. Louis — The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) today presented Dr. Nancy Kay with the Leo K. Bustad Companion Animal Veterinarian of the Year Award at its 148th Annual Convention in St. Louis, Mo.
Dr. Kay is a staff internist at VCA Animal Care Center in Rohnert Park, Calif., and the author of "Speaking for Spot: Be the Advocate Your Dog Needs to Live a Happy, Healthy, Longer Life." Named for the late Dr. Leo K. Bustad, a former dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University and a past president of the Delta Society, the award recognizes the outstanding work of veterinarians in preserving and protecting human-animal relationships.
The award consists of a $5,000 grant to the winner, as well as a $5,000 grant to the veterinary college, school or not-for-profit service program of the veterinarian's choice to further work in improving human-companion animal interactions.
