AVMA Hires Sheila Saldeen as a Medical Writer in the Communications Division
SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — As part of its continuing effort to maintain the high quality of service provided by its Communications Division, the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) has hired Sheila Saldeen as a medical writer/researcher/editor in its Communications Division.
"Ms. Saldeen's extensive writing and research background in the health and pharmacological fields will be a definite asset to the Association," says Dr. Kimberly May, assistant director of professional and public affairs. "Sheila has an extensive background in researching and writing on highly complex issues and a great deal of experience in providing and editing content for books, abstracts, presentations and clinical articles."
Saldeen will be responsible for assisting Dr. May and other staff in the Communications Division with the development of communication strategies and materials, including new technology and media, directed toward veterinary professionals/organizations, governmental and nongovernmental agencies, members of the public, the media, and other stakeholders. She will also assist with the identification and collection of background materials on issues of importance; write background synopses, informational documents and other documents for public audiences regarding veterinary-related issues; and aid in content development for professional and client educational brochures and other publications.
Prior to coming to the AVMA, Saldeen worked as a medical writer and editor at TAP in Lake Forest, Ill. from 2005–2008 and at Ideon Healthcare in Chicago, Ill. from 2004–2005. She also worked at Searle/Pharmacia/Pfizer in Skokie, Ill. from 1998–2003 as a scientific project manager and as a project coordinator at Sandoz in Des Plaines, Ill. from 1995–1998.
Saldeen received a bachelor's degree in biology from DePaul University in 1992.
