Western Trade Group, Inc. Recalls Roasted Peanuts Because of Possible Salmonella Health Risk

Western Trade Group, Inc., of Port Angeles, Washington is recalling Roasted Feed Grade Peanuts, because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The Roasted Feed Grade Peanuts were manufactured using peanuts recalled by the Peanut Corporation of American since they may potentially be contaminated with Salmonella.
The Roasted Feed Grade Peanuts were distributed to the following animal/livestock feed and wild bird feed packers in Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, and North Dakota. Product was distributed between January 1, 2008 and April 30, 2008.
The peanuts were shipped to the firms in two ways:
- 2,000 lb. totes labeled Aggieville USA, Mountain Grove, MO with the following codes: WT-60802 and WT-14484
- 50 lb. poly-lined paper bags labeled Western Trade Group, Inc., PO Box 1060, Carlsborg, WA. The fifty (50) lb. poly lined paper bags have no other codes.
No known illnesses have been reported to date in connection with these products. The recall was initiated after it was determined that the peanut product received was manufactured by Peanut Corporation of America. Western Trade has informed FDA of its actions and is fully cooperating with the Agency.
Consumers who have purchased the Roasted Feed Grade Peanuts are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 1-360-417-3747.
