Dr. J.P. Dubey
Dr. J.P. Dubey
U.S. veterinarian among most cited researchers

An author familiar to readers of the JAVMA and the American Journal of Veterinary Research was honored recently by the Thomson/Institute for Scientific Information as one of the world's most cited authors.

Dr. J. P. Dubey was identified as one of the top 15 researchers in the discipline of Plant and Animal Science. These authors comprise less than one half of one percent of all publishing researchers.

Thomson/ISI used the new evaluation tool ISI Essential Science Indicators to identify the 15 most highly cited researchers in Plant and Animal Science as well as 15 in Agriculture.

Dr. Dubey was the only U.S. veterinarian to make the list. He is a veterinary microbiologist in the Parasite, Biology, Epidemiology, and Systematics Laboratory with the Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Research Service. On his behalf, the area director of the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center, Phyllis Johnson, PhD, accepted a certificate and gift at an April 22 celebratory reception in New Orleans at Experimental Biology 2002. The reception coincided with the expansion of the ISI Web of Knowledge to include applied life sciences literature in CAB Abstracts, published by CABI Publishing.

Dr. Dubey told AVMA Editor-in-Chief Janis H. Audin that about 250 of his 1,000 cited papers were published in JAVMA or AJVR.
