TAKE NOTICE
NAHMS to study swine diseases

Randomly selected pork producers will be contacted via mail by the National Animal Health Monitoring System to participate in the Swine 2000 study.

The study will research respiratory diseases such as porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome, Mycoplasma infection, and swine influenza; provide an industry scorecard on reduction of Salmonella and a national measure of Yersinia on the farm; describe good production practices for antibiotic use; and collect data on adoption of environmentally sound production practices related to nutrient management, manure storage and application, and carcass disposal.
