Swine information index now online

Are you curious about how many pigs are born in the average litter on swine operations? Whether there is a higher survival rate in grower/finisher units or in nurseries? What strategies are being used to control odors? Or who producers consider the most important sources of food safety information?

You can now find the answers and other swine health and production information online through the Department of Agriculture's Index of Swine Information.

The report is an alphabetic index of topics covered in the National Animal Health Monitoring System's 1990, 1995, and 2000 swine studies. References to published material are included.

View the report at www.aphis.usda.gov/vs/ceah/cahm/index.htm. The USDA Centers for Epidemiology and Animal Health encourages comments and questions. They should be directed to Dr. Eric Bush, (970) 494-7260.
