Public health readiness conference item funded

On July 20-22, the national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in partnership with the American Medical Association, is hosting the First National Congress on Public Health Readiness: Mobilizing Public Health and Healthcare Leaders for Community Action. The Executive Board has decided that the chair of the AVMA Council on Public Health and Regulatory Veterinary Medicine, Dr. James Wright, will represent the veterinary profession at this congress, which will be held in Washington, D.C. His attendance will cost the AVMA $1,625.

Dr. Wright currently supervises the preparedness team in the Texas Department of Health's East Texas Region and participates in meetings with local agencies and in exercises of response plans.

Participation in this congress will help the AVMA further strengthen its relationship with the CDC and the medical profession.
