Policy on concurrent council, committee service clarified

The Policy on Concurrent Multiple Council and Committee Service was amended after questions were raised about whether members are prohibited from serving concurrently on multiple councils and committees in cases when a member is appointed by an outside organization to represent it on an AVMA entity.

The Executive Board approved the following addition (noted below in italics) the Credentialing Committee recommended to the clarify the policy:

Except for designated positions in which a member represents one committee, council, insurance trust, or other official body on another; or for positions to which a member is appointed directly by an outside organization to represent it on a AVMA entity, members may not serve concurrently on more than one council, committee, or insurance trust; and they may not concurrently be a candidate for election or appointment to more than one council, committee, or insurance trust position.

The board approved a separate recommendation amending the Protocol for Appointments by the Executive Board to reflect the clarification.
