Printer-friendly version

The AVMA Executive Board dealt with several Association policies during its meeting. There are cases when a council or committee reviewing a particular policy decides it continues to be relevant and should be reaffirmed, or the statement is no longer current and needs to be rescinded. Following are a list of those policies.

The board reaffirmed AVMA policies titled Healthy People 2010, Fluoroquinolones, Aminoglycosides, Restriction of Veterinary Biologics to Veterinarians' Use, Veterinarian as FSIS Administrator, Reorganize Roles of FSIS Veterinarians, User Fees for Meat and Poultry Inspection, and Declawing Captive Exotic and Wild Indigenous Cats.

The board also reaffirmed the AVMA's endorsement of the American Association of Equine Practitioners' policies on Transportation and Processing of Horses, Therapeutic Medications in Non-Racing Performance Horses, and Use of Horses in Urban Environments.

The board rescinded AVMA policies titled Public Health Curriculum, Toxocara Infections, USDA Agricultural Research Service and the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, Rabies Vaccination Procedures, Rabies Vaccine Administration, CDC Rabies Section Chief, Rabies Vaccination for Cats, Oral Rabies Vaccines, Model Rabies Ordinance, Residues, Jurisdiction (Biologic Licensure), Joint Subcommittee on Aquaculture, Confinement Rearing of Livestock and Poultry, Research on Rearing of Livestock and Poultry, State Meat Inspection Programs, Food Safety Policy (Research), Recruitment Committees in Constituent Associations, and Membership Status—Retired Member Status.
