The Executive Board rescinded an old position on disabled livestock, the content of which was superseded by the current, more detailed AVMA position on handling disabled livestock. That position is posted at www.avma.org; click on the "Resources" folder.

The Council on Public Health and Regulatory Veterinary Medicine brought the original 1992 position statement to the attention of the Animal Welfare Committee. The council concluded the statement was no longer necessary, given the more recent statement, and the committee agreed.
