Member added to Food Safety Advisory Committee

At its October meetings, the AVMA Food Safety Advisory Committee and Council on Public Health and Regulatory Veterinary Medicine reviewed a request from the American Association of Food Hygiene Veterinarians for representation on the FSAC. The council and committee made a recommendation to the Executive Board to grant this request and, in November, the board authorized $1,870 for expenses of this additional member.

The FSAC is responsible for advising the council on food safety and security issues. The new member will provide additional perspective that is not otherwise represented among the current membership. The rest of the committee is made up of four members from the CPHRVM and one representative each from the American Association of Avian Pathologists, American Association of Bovine Practitioners, American Association of Small Ruminant Practitioners, American Association of Swine Veterinarians, and the International Association of Aquatic Animal Health.
