Veterinary work force priorities set

The Executive Board has identified three areas as the AVMA's highest priority goals for the veterinary work force for the next three years. Veterinary work force is one of the approved strategy issues of the AVMA.

The goals are as follows: AVMA, in collaboration with all stakeholders, proactively uses work force information to develop solutions for the profession; critical work force shortages and societal needs are identified and solutions developed; and opportunities are identified within the evolving scope of veterinary medicine.

At its June meeting, the board considered several goal statements submitted by councils, committees, task forces, and other internal stakeholders. The Strategic Planning Committee consolidated and edited the statements, which were recommended to the board this June by five of the board members.
