The Executive Board approved a recommendation affirming its "strong support" for the mission of the American Veterinary Medical Foundation and the efforts of its board to make the foundation the charity of choice for animal health and welfare and the related needs of society.

According to the recommendation submitted by several board members, an atmosphere of conflict has recently existed between the AVMA board and that of the AVMF. For instance, several members of the AVMF board have resigned during the past year, and some AVMF fundraising functions have had to be canceled.

There is need now for a fresh start, the recommendation states. The AVMA's strong support of the AVMF will be critical for the foundation's future success.
