West Nile virus warning system
To develop a warning system for potential West Nile virus outbreaks, researchers at Cornell University's Northeast Regional Climate Center and Department of Entomology are spending this summer collecting climate and mosquito data in areas where potential virus-carrying mosquitoes lurk. [more]

 

DEA considers electronic order forms for controlled substances
The Drug Enforcement Administration is proposing new regulations that would allow veterinarians and other DEA-registered individuals to order schedule I and schedule II controlled substances, as their registrations permit, using an electronic version of the DEA official order form. [more]

 

APHIS: West Nile virus vaccine safe for use
Prompted by many phone calls from anxious horse owners, veterinarians, and others involved with horses, the Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has looked into alleged problems in pregnant, vaccinated mares and concluded there is no association with the West Nile virus vaccine.
