Proposal calls for changes in antimicrobial use
The Food and Drug Administration hopes a guide and draft guide on antimicrobial use and availability and a proposed change in the process of issuing veterinary feed directives will lead industries to change the way antimicrobials are used in livestock. If industry agrees to follow the voluntary guidance, fewer antimicrobials would be available for production uses rather than to treat, prevent, or control disease.
