MEMBERSHIP POLICIES
- Regular Voting, Recent Graduate, Educational, Retired, and Honor Roll members shall have the right to hold office and vote on any matter.
- Associate members must be legal residents of a country other than the United States.
- Associate and Affiliate members shall have the same rights as Regular members except that no Associate member or Affiliate member may hold office or vote on any matter.
- All dues for the 2008 membership year shall be paid on or before January 1, 2008.
- A member shall be delinquent if the annual dues are not paid in full by March 1, 2008.
- A delinquent member shall cease to be a member if the dues are not paid in full within 30 after a notice of delinquency is mailed to the last known address (by March 31, 2008).
- AVMA membership includes a subscription to either the Journal of the AVMA (JAVMA) or the American Journal of Veterinary Research (AJVR). The portion of dues allocated for JAVMA or AJVR is $60. These subscription allotments are not separable or refundable from dues payment. If you would like to change your current journal subscription selection, please contact the AVMA Membership Division at 800-248-2862, ext. 6631.
- AVMA Bylaws provide that members may apply for dues reductions or waivers for the following circumstances by contacting 800-248-2862 ext. 6629 for information.
Member Educational - Dues Reduction
When pursuing full time graduate study, internship, or residency at an accredited college or program approved by a veterinary specialty board.
Dues Waiver
Due to financial hardship by reason of physical disability, illness, or extenuating circumstances. Or for retired members with 35 years of AVMA membership, or for retired members, age 65 with continuous membership since graduation.
