Since 1964, the AVMA Model Veterinary Practice Act has served as a model set of guiding principles for those who are now or will be in the future preparing or revising a practice act under the codes and laws of an individual state. AVMA positions relevant to licensure issues, including but not limited to specialty licensure and licensure by endorsement, are addressed in the AVMA Model Veterinary Practice Act.
