The AVMA urges the Food and Drug Administration to implement import regulations consistent with existing domestic bans on the use of certain drugs in food animals in the United States. The banned drugs are chloramphenicol, diethylstilbesterol, dimetridazole, ipronidazole, furazolidone, nitrofurazone, and enrofloxacin for use in turkeys and chickens.
