The AVMA supports standardized health information systems such as Systemized Nomenclature of Medicine (SNOMED), Health Level 7 (HL7), and Logical Observation Identifier Names and Codes (LOINC) and Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) as the informatics standards for the optimal collection, transmission, analysis and dissemination of information, data, and knowledge for problem solving and decision making in veterinary medicine.
